An Update on the 2020 KSSHRM Conference

Kansas SHRM looks forward, each year, to welcoming HR pros from across the state (and beyond!) to learn together and build our professional networks. We celebrated 30 years of annual conferences last year and had new ideas in store to make 2020 our best event yet!

With that said, 2020 has had a few surprises in store for us and throughout this time, our conference committee has been continuing its planning efforts in addition to preparing for multiple scenarios. We have continued to receive inquiries about how COVID-19 might impact this year’s conference and we're glad to let you know we've reached a decision on how to move forward. After much consideration, our 2020 KSSHRM Annual Conference will be held virtually.

We are so excited to be able to still offer our conference while recognizing the concerns that many of our fellow HR leaders have expressed in having or attending an in-person event. Our speakers have unanimously committed to participating virtually; therefore, we will have the same high quality speaker line-up. Additionally, we have secured a virtual platform that will allow us to interact and build connection while receiving excellent educational content.

Please take a few minutes to review the additional details in the message below, including: how the platform will work, how you will be able to interact with both the speakers and each other, and other exciting plans for our first ever virtual conference! To celebrate this announcement, we will be offering a FLASH SALE that will allow you to register at our early bird rates - don't miss this chance to reserve your spot!

We appreciate your continued support of the 2020 Kansas SHRM Conference.

Thanks for all that you do in support of Kansas SHRM!

Governor Laura Kelly Recommends Communities Move into Phase 3 of “Ad Astra” Plan

Governor Laura Kelly announced that her administration, as well as officials with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, recommend that most local communities consider moving into Phase 3 of “Ad Astra: A Plan to Reopen Kansas,” Monday, June 8, as scheduled.

Key Phase 3 highlights for communities:

  • Mass gatherings of more than 45 individuals are not recommended;
  • All education, activities, venues and establishments may operate and are recommended to follow all public health guidelines;
  • On-site staffing has no recommended restrictions;
  • Nonessential travel may resume, provided travelers follow KDHE travel and quarantine guidelines for travel to high-risk areas.
“Ad Astra: A Plan to Reopen Kansas,” is available in full at covid.ks.gov, in addition to industry-specific guidance for Kansas businesses.

COVID-19 May 22 UPDATE:  Kansas will move to a modified Phase 2 today. The Manhattan Area Recovery Task Force developed a guide to show your patrons what you are doing at your business to help keep them safe during this time.
